«General»
♠ Respect. Respect is a key thing here. You respect us, and we'll respect you.
♠ Keep IC drama out of OOC. What happens IC (in character) should stay there. It's not real. This is a game, so don't get all high-strung just because someone's character hates yours. The member probably doesn't hate you, and is probably just building a plot.
♠ This site is rated PG-13. Anything over that must have a warning in the title, IC or OOC. I don't need anyone complaining to their parents about how a RPG stole their innocence.
♠ Swearing is allowed. It is allowed IC and OOC. If you don't like words such as “fuck”, “damn”, and all those other cuss words, don't join. Just don't make our eyes bleed from them, will you?
♠ Chat and Text Speak are not allowed. Chat speak is “u” for you and “r” for are, and so on. Text speak is typing all your words without vowels. Lk ths. (That said “like this” in text speak.)
♠ Activity is vital. Since there will be activity checks, you'll need to make sure you're on at least once a week to make sure that you don't get deleted.
♠ Fill out that bio. Since many people join, then never play, you have to have your first character bio up within a week of you joining. Sorry, I know that seems unfair, but so is joining just to say you joined.
«Characters»
♠ Follow the form. I know, filling out forms is boring, but it'll help with the information that we need to know about your character.
♠ Unfinished bios. If your bio is not finished, please put [Not Done] [ND] [UF] [Unfinished] [WIP] or something of that sort so that I know. Then take it out once you're done modifying it.
♠ Dire wolves only. This site is based around dire wolves from The Blackblood Alliance and two other web comics, which you can find the links to in the Plot or in the Credits part of the sidebar.
♠ Aging. Your character will age. Every four months is a year on Be Yourself. And you will be expected to change their age.
♠ Death. Your character will at some point die, whether of natural causes, old age, or being murdered.
♠ One thread per character bio. Don't put two of your characters in the same bio thread. That's messy and I don't see why people seem to like to do that. If it's a pet, that's fine, but a whole 'nother character? No.
♠ Character acceptance. Each of your characters must be accepted before you can role play them.
♠ Character limit. You can have as many as you can keep active as long as they are all on one account.
♠ Character price. Your first character is free, but after that they start costing depending on what kind of character you want to make. You can check the prices here.
♠ Taken Names. This is only to make it so no one confuses one person with another. There is a list of names, located here, that has a list of all character and member names. Don't use those, please, and don't name your characters after Norse Gods either or it will be confusing. You can name them after Gods from any other pantheon, though.
«Posting / Role Playing»
♠ Put your character's name on top. Place your character's name at the top of your posts, especially if you have multiple characters. This will help you keep track of who is where, as well as help other members.
♠ Liquid time is allowed. You can be in two role plays at once as long as they are not in the same time frame, but only two. This may change as new members join.
♠ 150 word minimum. Yeah, I know, how will you survive? That's not a lot, so don't flip on me. If that seems like a lot to you, you shouldn't join.
♠ Keeping the action IC. If you want to make a clan, then you need to do it IC. There shouldn't be any OOC planning on things like that, because that takes away from the fun of it. You can still ask for people to role play with you, but you shouldn't make an outline of what should happen.
♠ You are expected to use proper English. "Orbs" are not eyes, "auds" are not ears, and this is not a horse or wolf RPG. If you want to say your character's eyes are like orbs, that's another story.
♠ Death and life--without consent. You don't have to ask permission to kill someone's character, or to even rape them (though let's keep this to a minimum, and make sure to add a warning to your post). Which also means they can get revenge on you for doing so without your permission.
♠ No Godmoding. This is making your character invincible. You aren't invincible, sweetie. And you're not God either, nor can you be a God here.
♠ No Power Playing. Taking control of another player's character. This means that you control the thoughts, actions, words, reactions, or emotions of a character that is owned by someone else. However, this is a major sin of role playing, and will be costly. So don't do it.
♠ No Metagaming. Crossing the line between OOC and IC knowledge. If your character did not learn the information IC, they do not know the information. If your character has no way of knowing what they are saying, the other member has every right to hit you with a slimy fish.
♠ No Mary Sues/Gary Stus. The most annoying character type in the world. They are seen as perfect, and are unrealistic. However, there are also those at the other end of the spectrum, so full of weaknesses that no one would ever want to be in the same room with them. So keep your strengths and weaknesses balanced.
♠ Anything graphic. Graphic material should have a strong warning in the title and on the very first post. After that, if someone reads it, they can't say they didn't see it. If they do, well, that's their problem because I won't believe them.
«Other»
♠ Use spell check. It's at the bottom of the posting screen, and no one wants to role play with someone with a lot of spelling errors.
♠ Have fun! I know there's a lot of rules, but have some fun. Besides, most of this is common sense as it is.
Sincerely, The Be Yourself Staff
